Born in Israel in 1964, Ronen Kadushin studied industrial design in Jerusalem. He lived and worked in places such as Tel Aviv, before relocating to Berlin, Germany in 2005. It was here that he founded his company, Open Design, and the concept of the same name, by turning to the principles of the Open Source method that revolutionised the software industry. The underlying questions Open Design asks are: How can the internet be transformed into a tool for the manufacture of real designer products? How can products be converted into data that can be downloaded and remixed the way music tracks can, or even actually built? The answer: with the help of CAD models and CNC machines. Kadushin publishes designs online like his Laser Cut Chairs and iPhone Killer under a creative commons license, thereby allowing the communication and collaborative resources offered by the internet to be coupled with the flexibility of CNC production methods. Anyone who wishes can download and copy them, or alter and manufacture them to any extent of the imagination: Ronen Kadushin has worked as a lecturer in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and at the UdK (Berlin University of the Arts). Since 2010, he has been a visiting professor for Open Design at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (Saale), Germany. Kadushin has received numerous awards for his work.

Ich bin langsam am Verzweifeln. Ich such immer noch die richtigen Knöpfe! Ich fühl mich wie im Kartenhaus. Nur noch 22 Stunden und 16 Minuten bis Abgabeschluss!
