The Austrian photographer Manfred Kielnhofer develops a new sort of act photographs. Therefore he builds a water plate in his studio, where he can take photos of models sitting or lying likely on a mirror. Kielnhofer is working with the camera like a sculptor. With the human body shapes he creates sculptures in the end les universum.

?Guards of Time? relates to the idea that since the beginning of time mankind has had protectors, both for historic and mystical reasons. It seems that only man himself is a potential source of danger for his own existence. In his works of art Manfred Kielnhofer deals with the natural human desire for security. Thus his oeuvre reflects genuine exploration, consideration and discussion of current as well as historic moods and sensibilities of his social environment. His works of art captivate with elaborate combinations of light and different technique. Manfred Kielnhofer was born in Haslach an der Mühl, Austria. He is self-taught and works with many different mediums; including, painting, film, photography, installation, performance and sculpture. His work usually concerns the human figure, and its different forms and movements, focusing mainly on the peculiarities of human nature. He uses the human form as a tool, either on a canvas or in a sculpture.

From Pipe Piece to Piece of Art Österreichischer Arbeitskreis Kunststoffrohr Recycling ÖAKR celebrates its 20th anniversary this year! A perfect occasion for presenting the closed loop of plastic pipe use und reuse in an out-of-the ordinary fashion. The art contest Kunststoffrohr Recycling einmal anders vom Rohrstück zum Kunststück approaches plastic pipe recycling from a different perspective and turns pipe pieces into pieces of art. The participating Austrian artists Manfred Kielnhofer, Witold J. Pawlik, Arni Pichler, Christopher Rhomberg and Herbert Schmid were invited to Reststofftechnik, a partner of the ÖAKR System, to trash-pick discarded water supply, sewer, drainage, gas, heat and sanitary pipes. We are all curious to see what interesting works of art will emerge until 5th April, the day oft he anniversary celebrations, and who the audience at the Convention Centre of Schönbrunn Castle will choose as the winner. Anlässlich des 20-jährigen Bestehens veranstaltet er den Kunstwettbewerb Kunststoffrohr Recycling einmal anders vom Rohrstück zum Kunststück. Fünf Künstler, die zum Teil seit Jahren mit dem Werkstoff Kunststoff arbeiten, wurden dazu eingeladen, aus ÖAKR-Sammelgut Kunstobjekte zu gestalten: *Christopher Rhomberg und *Witold J. Pawlik aus Wien, *Manfred Kielnhofer aus Linz, *Arni Pichler aus Schauersberg und *Herbert Schmid aus Gunskirchen. Materialauswahl beim ÖAKR-Systempartner Reststofftechnik Aus der Vielzahl ausgedienter Wasser- , Abwasser-, Abfluss-, Dränage, Gas-, Heizungs- und Sanitärrohre, Kabelschutz-, Elektro- und Installationsrohre, die am Sammelplatz vom ÖAKR-Systempartner Reststofftechnik in Henndorf/Wallersee in unterschiedlichsten Farben und Dimensionen zur Verfügung standen, wählten die Künstler ihr Material aus. In den nächsten Wochen entstehen in den Ateliers interessante Werke aus den Altrohren und Verarbeitungsresten. Man darf schon gespannt sein auf imposante Objekte wie etwa Lichtskulpturen, Rauminstallationen oder Möbel aus Kunststoffrohren. Im Rahmen der Jubiläumsveranstaltung im Schloss Schönbrunn am 5. April 2011 werden die Künstler ihre Werke präsentieren und die Festgäste ein Siegerobjekt küren.

Möbel aus Papier Selbst der kleine Post-it-Zettel war einmal Teil eines Baums. Doch in seiner üblichen Verwendung denken wir meist nicht an die Herkunft des Papiers. Aber saßen Sie schon einmal auf einem Stuhl komplett aus Pappe? Wie stabil Papier sein kann, zeigen die Papp-Möbel des österreichischen Künstlers Manfred Kielnhofer. In der Galerie Artpark in Linz stehen Kielnhofers umweltfreundliche Sessel und Stühle bereits seit mehreren Jahren ohne dass man es ihnen ansehen könnte. Gefertigt aus recyceltem Zeitungspapier sind sie ebenso stabil wie herkömmliche Möbel aus Metall, Holz oder Kunststoff. Das außergewöhnliche Design aus Papprohren macht sie jedoch zu mehr als einem einfachen Sitzmöbel. Der freischaffende Künstler Manfred Kielnhofer gründete 2005 den Linzer Artpark und initiierte seither mehrere Ausstellungen.
