2012 widmet ARTE einen Tag der Vielfalt von Schwarz und Weiß.

Ein Tag in Schwarzweiß zeigt, dass Schwarzweiß viele Farben haben kann.

ARTE präsentiert euch Schwarzweiß-Filme unterschiedlichster Couleur, denn in diesen Filme steckt mehr als nur eine Technik: Schwarzweiß ist ein Stil, eine Ästhetik, die das Vergangene, Authentische und Dokumentarische betont. Schwarzweiß steht für Kontraste zwischen Gut und Böse, Hell und Dunkel, Schwarz und Weiß und erzeugt oftmals ein Ergebnis, dass die Vermischung dieser Themen verfolgt.

Anlässlich des Thementags "Schwarzweiß hat viele Farben" auf ARTE veranstaltet die Sendung KurzSchluss einen Kurzfilmwettbewerb. Am Wettbewerb teilnehmen darf jeder Student einer europäischen Filmhochschule, Filmfakultät, Kunst- oder Designakademie.

Die Einreichungen müssen formal schwarzweiß sein. Ansonsten sind alle inhaltlichen und genrespezifischen Ansätze erlaubt und in ihrer Vielfältigkeit erwünscht. Die Filme sollen "sprachlos" sein, also ohne gesprochenen Texte auskommen und nur mit Musik und Geräuschen funktionieren. Sie dürfen höchstens 10 Minuten lang sein. Die eingereichten Produktionen müssen nach dem 01.01.2009 entstanden sein und dürfen nicht in Deutschland oder Frankreich im Fernsehen gezeigt worden sein.

Noch bis 31. März 2012 könnt ihr euch bewerben. Dazu meldet ihr euch ganz einfach auf der Plattform ARTE Creative an, und fügt hinzu, dass ihr am Wettbewerb teilnehmen wollt. Ladet euren Film auf euren eigenen Channel hoch und anschließend auf dem Channel des Wettbewerbs. Die technischen Anforderungen für das Hochladen von Videos sind in den Teilnahmebedingungen näher spezifiziert.

Le noir et blanc, c'est une technique, mais c'est aussi un style, une esthétique. Il évoque le passé, l'authentique, le documentaire. Nous le voyons comme une opposition du clair et de l'obscur, du bon et du méchant, du noir et du blanc, et parfois il est le résultat d'une fusion de ces termes.

A l'occasion de cette journée titrée "Toute la palette du noir et blanc", le magazine du court métrage "Court circuit" organise un grand concours. Ce dernier s'adresse principalement à des étudiants d'une école ou université européenne de cinéma, d'art ou de design.

Les contributions doivent être strictement en noir et blanc. Pour le reste, toutes les approches en termes de contenus et de genres sont autorisées, la diversité est souhaitée.
Les films doivent être « muets » ; ils doivent pouvoir se passer de textes parlés et fonctionner avec seulement de la musique et des bruits. Les contributions ne doivent avoir été montrées ni à la télévision française, ni à la télévision allemande.

Vous avez jusqu'au 31 mars 2012 pour nous envoyer vos contributions. Pour ce faire, inscrivez-vous sur la plateforme creative en mentionnant que vous souhaitez participer au concours. Puis téléchargez votre film sur votre espace ainsi que sur celui du concours. Les normes techniques sont spécifiées dans le règlement.

In 2012, ARTE dedicates one whole day to the variety of Black and White

"A Day in Black and White" will show how colourful "Black and white" can be.

ARTE wishes to demonstrate the multiplicity of black and white in a wide range of films. For "Black and white" is more than meretechnology. It is style and aesthetics. "Black and white"shapes our ideas of the past, the authentic and what has been documented. "Black and white" represents the opposites of light and dark, good and evil, poor and rich, and black and white. Sometimes we also see it as the dissolution of these opposites.

To mark the special theme day "Black and White is Colourful", the ARTE TV magazine Court-circuit/KurzSchluss presents a short film competition.

Students from any European film school, film faculty, art or design academy are invited to take part in the competition.

The submission must be formally black and white. Other than this, all content and genre-specific approaches are welcome in all their diversity. The films should be "speechless", in other words, abstain from spoken text and use only music and sound effects.

The submissions should be no longer than 10 minutes and must have been produced after 01/01/2009. The submitted films must not yet have been broadcast on TV in Germany or France.

You can still submit your films until 31/03/2012. To do so, upload your film on your ARTE Creative account and then on the "Short.Black.White.Film" Channel. For technical details regarding the upload please confer to the Submission Guidelines.

there´s a story behind everything...

the fast pace of our time has long expanded into our relationships. a partnership or a marriage for many decades by now becomes a rarity, at the younger generations we could almost believe that they become extinct. the more it is important that we are honest to ourself and our own conscience. love for oneself, the importance of one´s life may never be confused with arrogance or vanity. it´s about wholesome respect for yourself, about your self esteem and your satisfactions which everyone of us, every being on our planet, in our universe, really deserves. when you have reached that and if you are able to feel this, it makes everything possible.

these thoughts were always omnipresent at the development of the script. thereby 
i have also tried to keep enough space for each one and his own interpretation. just inside yourself, you can explore what it is what makes you feel so happy.

at the beginning of all my planing, i thought about a one-shot short movie in berlin. after a short trip to the studios of daniel michaelis and willi fast and a six-pack of beer later, the one-shot was refused and berlin grew up to paris. where else would you tell the story of the most important of all forms of love?

in the upcoming weeks and months, i go to paris several times to organize the production. really fast I figured out, that for sharing this important message, it needs a worthy ambassador. very quickly i found marie luisa. many years ago she had her first photo shoot done with me and thereby she left me with a permanent impression. i knew she should be the one, this important personality that goes along through the world with my story.

now almost one year after my first thoughts, i hope we have created a little map for those who may not found them self.

Concours Noir et Blanc

"Schwarzweiß" ist eine Technik, ein Stil, eine Ästhetik. Schwarzweiß prägt die Vorstellung von Vergangenem, Authentischem, Dokumentarischem. "Schwarz-Weiß" sehen wir als Gegensätze von hell und dunkel, gut und böse, arm und reich, schwarz und weiß -und bisweilen auch als ihre Auflösung.

Schwarzweiß, das ist der harte Kontrast, aber auch die Schattierungen zwischen den Extremen. Schwarzweiß existiert in zahlreichen Formen, in der Ideologie, in der Malerei, in der Mode, in der Fotografie, im Film.

Schwarzweiß ist ein Kunststil, der die Vielfalt der Möglichkeiten in der Reduktion und der Konzentration zeigt. Schwarzweiß ist das Spiel von Licht und Schatten. "Sterne leuchten heller in Schwarz-Weiß!" soll der Regisseur Josef von Sternberg einst gesagt haben.

Mit einem "Tag in Schwarzweiß" will ARTE 2012 die Variationsbreite von Schwarzweiß in Filmen jeglicher Couleur sichtbar machen. Gezeigt wird ein breites Spektrum von Schwarzweiß-Filmen: Dokumentationen und Spielfilme, aber auch Kurzfilme, Essays und Experimentalfilme. Perlen aus den Anfängen des Kinos ebenso wie aktuelle Filme von schwarzen und weißen Filmemachern, die schwarzweiß zu drehen lieben und die Farbsymbolik in Bezug auf Licht und Schatten und manchmal auch darüber hinaus - in Hinblick auf Repräsentation und Rassismus - zum Thema machen.

Aus Anlass des Thementages "Schwarzweiß hat viele Farben" veranstaltet ARTE zwei Wettbewerbe: Ein Kurzfilmwettbewerb und ein Senderdesignwettbewerb.

Le noir et blanc peut être ici un contraste dur, et là un nuancier entre les extrêmes. Cette

dualité existe dans d'innombrables domaines, idéologique, pictural, photographique, filmique.
Le noir et blanc est un style artistique, il peut être réduction ou concentration. Il est le jeu de

l'ombre et de la lumière. « Les étoiles brillent avec plus de clarté en noir et blanc », aurait dit

en son temps le réalisateur Josef von Sternberg.

En 2012, ARTE programmera une journée thématique « Noir et blanc » pour mettre en relief

la richesse de ce support. Avec des films en tous genres : courts et longs métrages,

documentaires, films d'art et d'essai, cinéma expérimental - perles rares des débuts du

septième art ou oeuvres contemporaines de cinéastes Noirs ou Blancs, dont le noir et blanc

est le support préféré, qui ont choisi pour sujet la symbolique des couleurs dans leur rapport

avec la lumière et l'ombre, allant parfois jusqu'à s'en servir pour exprimer une dualité des

classes ou des races.

A l'occasion de la journée thématique « Toute la palette du noir et blanc » ARTE organise deux concours. Un concours de courts métrages ainsi qu'un concours autour de l'habillage.

Reflections in a restless puddle driven by the wind, where the water and its unexpected timing suddenly opens the path for a passing bird. The reverse video effect is not a hoax but rather a way to give a deeper perspective to what´s taking place.
