WOPPOW - Episode 1 (FR)

In 1991, after the fall of its regime, Somalia descended into war.

European and Asian countries took advantage of the chaotic situation in Somalia, and sent their commercial fleets not only to fish but to dump their unwanted toxic and nuclear wastes in Somalian waters.

Within a months, local fishermen were confronted with empty nets as well as they found themselves under attack from commercial fishing boats.

They got more and more desperate, not being able any longer to feed there families and helplessly watching as more and more babies were born with massive defects due to the illegal waste dumping.

But without a stable government their calls remained unheard within the U.N. and the International Community.
