Willkommen im Reich der Elektrizität: Strom entsteht durch Arbeit, Reibung, Empathie und in Herausforderung mit der Natur. Von der Geburt bis zum Tod ist das Dasein energiegeladen. Und zwischen Finsternis und Licht wohnt bei der künstlichen Schöpfung von Blitzen ein Fanal der Gewalt inne. Ein grandios finaler Sturz - mit Sound.
"Generation" basiert auf einer Kurzgeschichte und wurde vom Komponisten David Downes 2004 animiert. Der 13-minütige Film hatte auf dem New Zealand International Arts Festival Premiere, wurde auf über 30 internationalen Film-, Kunst-, Musik- und Literaturfestivals gezeigt, gewann zahlreiche Preise und ist im interfilm Verleih.
Der in Neuseeland geborener Komponist und Filmemacher David Downes gilt als überaus erfinderisch, seine Arbeit strebt nach Ausdrucksformen frei von bestimmten Formen oder Stilrichtungen. Viele seiner Werke sind von Tiefenpsychologie und der Sprache der Metaphern geprägt.
Momentan bereitet David Downes ein neues Werk mit dem Titel "Kingdom" vor.

Welcome to the realm of electricity: Power is created by work, friction, empathy and in confrontation with nature. Our entire existence is energized - from the second we are born till the moment of our death. And between darkness and light, a beacon of violence is intrinsic to the artificial creation of lightning. A grandiose final fall - with sound.
Generation, based on a short poem, was animated and composed by David Downes. Completed in 2004 and premiered at the New Zealand International Arts Festival, the 13 minute animation - distributed by interfilm - has subsequently been screened at over 30 international film, arts, music and literature festivals winning several awards.
David Downes is a New Zealand born composer/film maker who pursues a diverse and individual creative career. Described in a 2011 review as "particularly inventive" Downes strives for an expression not restricted to any specific form or style. Much of his work is influenced by a profound interest in depth psychology and the language of metaphor.
David Downes is currently preparing a new film entitled "Kingdom".

Sehr cool! Manchmal denkt man, ein David Lynch-Film sei gestartet, aber die Rückwärtseffekte helfen vor allem bei der Verdeutlichung der (sozialen) Rituale.
