Der Berliner Bahnhof Ostkreuz, einer der verkehrsreichsten S-Bahn-Knotenpunkte Deutschlands, kurz vor seiner zehnjährigen Sanierung: Regen tropft durch die Teerpappe und Klofrau Erna ist froh, dass ihr Blumenbeet auf ihrem Bahnsteig Wasser bekommt. Laura Geiger und Tom Kretschmer besuchten das marode Dauer-Provisorium zwischen 2005 und 2007, sie sammelten Eindrücke und ihnen gelang eine der schönsten Berlin-Dokumentationen der letzen Jahre.

OSTKREUZ erspürt in poetischen Bildern die sozialen Beziehungen, die den Bau vor seinem Abriss prägten. Der Bahnhof ist heute perfekt, doch seiner 130-jährigen Erinnerung beraubt. www.ostkreuzfilm.de

The Berlin railway station Ostkreuz, one of the busiest suburban railroad junctions in Germany, shortly before its ten year reconstruction: Rain leaks through the tar paper and Erna the toilet attendant is pleased that her flowerbed on the platform gets a little rain. Laura Geiger and Tom Kretschmer payed numerous visits to the ramshackle and eternally makeshift construction between 2005 and 2007 to gather impressions and succeeded at creating one of the most beautiful Berlin documentaries of recent years.

OSTKREUZ uses poetic imagery to sound out the social relationships that characterised the building before its demolition and while practically perfect nowadays, the station has been robbed of 130 years of recollections. www.ostkreuzfilm.de

Laura Geiger studied Visual Communication, worked as a writer, director and lecturer for projects including the production of socially-related ads and environmental clips, and conceived intervention concepts pertaining to complex societal themes. www.freiland-kommunikation.de
