Analysing the Process in Musical Creation
« Analysing the Process in Musical Creation » is a four-chapter web documentary written and directed by François-Xavier Féron and Benoît Martin as part of the MuTeC project (Musicology of contemporary composition techniques, 2009-2012) funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and coordinated by Nicolas Donin (IRCAM, Analysis of Musical Practices Team).
Chapter 1 discusses the issues, methods and starting points of research into creative processes.
Chapter 2 focuses on the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel (Switzerland), where the work of some of the 20th century’s most important composers are archived.
Chapter 3 focuses on the MuTeC project: its genesis, its objectives, its different fields of study and some of its key findings.
Chapter 4 considers opportunities that would help advance and adjust the research dynamic both in conjunction with the Tracking the Creative Process in Music conference, and more broadly with regards to research in Arts, based upon musical interpreters’ knowledge and practice.
